Foil Stamping
Foil stamping process is similar to the embossing process. Foil stamping is becoming more common in business cards due to technology advancement. However, the typical use has been in announcements and invitations, including wedding invitations.
Like embossing and engraving, foil is "stamped" on to paper with the same type of equipment as embossing. The image is created by placing a thin film of foil - usually a metallic-like layer, and heat, which transfers the image on to the paper.
Foil comes in many colors and can match most PMS colors. Foil can also be transparent or in special finishes such a marbled or pastel colors.
This process is part of "letterpress" printing. |
